Equipment commissioning and operation of domestic wastewater treatment systems

Do you know what precautions should be taken during the commissioning and operation of domestic wastewater treatment equipment? Below, we’ll provide a detailed overview.

Do you know what precautions should be taken during the commissioning and operation of domestic wastewater treatment equipment? Below, we’ll provide a detailed overview.

  1. When operating the domestic wastewater treatment equipment, verify the power supply circuit, ensure that the wiring in the control box is correct, and confirm that the voltage and current comply with specifications. This wastewater treatment system employs an automatic control system, utilizing time relays for operation and DC contactors for output. The control box can simultaneously manage submersible pumps and centrifugal blowers, with real-time monitoring based on operating conditions and built-in automatic protection features; it is also equipped with manual and process control modes. Before starting the centrifugal pump, check the pump piping for leaks or air ingress, and ensure there are no blockages.

  2. The centrifugal pump of the municipal wastewater treatment equipment has stopped operating. Check whether the pump’s suction pipe is blocked by debris or sediment; if the construction company cannot be contacted for repair, the issue may be damage to the pump itself or to the motor control unit.

  3. The centrifugal pump used in this domestic wastewater treatment system is a submersible sewage pump designed to resist clogging and tearing. Pump operation is controlled by a float‑type liquid level switch that monitors the water level in the wastewater tank: when the level rises from low to the operating setpoint, the discharge pump starts; when the level falls below the low‑level threshold, the pump stops (the level switch serves as the sensing device). Before starting the centrifugal blower, verify that the rotation direction is correct—do not reverse it.

  4. The centrifugal fan of the domestic wastewater treatment equipment is making unusual noises. Check whether the fan’s drive belt is too loose and, if so, lubricate it promptly.

  5. When the wastewater level in the equalization tank falls below the operating level set by the centrifugal pump’s liquid-level sensor, the centrifugal pump shuts down. To ensure the normal growth and development of microorganisms within the wastewater treatment system, the aerators are operated on an intermittent basis.

  6. When operating domestic wastewater treatment equipment, if abnormal effluent conditions occur, it is necessary to inspect the aeration tank, sedimentation tank, disinfection tank, and sludge storage tank to ensure that all drainage pipelines are functioning properly. If any blockages are detected, these tanks must be cleaned to maintain unobstructed flow. If the effluent quality fails to meet standards, check whether the influent flow rate is too high and adjust the gate valves accordingly.

  7. Centrifugal fans and centrifugal pumps shall be equipped with self-starting control.

  8. The equipment monitoring center shall, in accordance with the design specifications, program the operating schedule on the electrical control cabinet. (Unless otherwise specified, manual operation is not permitted.) Manual operation involves using the touch‑type switches on the control panel to manually start and stop submersible sewage pumps, centrifugal blowers, and other equipment. Based on the configuration of each module within the domestic wastewater treatment system, the equipment can achieve denitrification and dephosphorization. For areas that must meet stringent environmental standards, or for regions where water resources are severely scarce and industrial wastewater treatment is required, the domestic wastewater treatment system can also satisfy the relevant requirements.
